Shirley retired from the Department of Public Welfare in 2003, where she worked her way up from file clerk to a caseworker. Her position as a caseworker was involved helping clients from welfare to work determining eligibility for cash, medical and food stamp programs as well as childcare and carfare. Throughout the 25 years that she has been an active member of Christian Hope Baptist Church for over 25 years, she has held positions such as President of Usher Board #2, Secretary for Sunday School, Member of the Jordan Ensemble, member of the Prayer and Praise Ministry, member of the Hospitality Ministry and Youth Counselor.
She is a member of Women Fellowship which is held every third Saturday and Treasurer of the Sunshine club for our Family and Friends Travel Group. She selflessly transports elderly to and from doctor’s appointments, supermarkets and as well as church. She feels blessed and this work is part of her missionary ministry.
